Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship from Fatal Influence on the October 9 episode of SmackDown, the go-home show for Money in the Bank, WWE.com reported. Bliss was not the planned partner. She entered the match only after Charlotte Flair was removed from it backstage.
PWTorch and Wrestleview both reported that Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab attacked Flair backstage and threw her into a crate. WWE.com said General Manager Nick Aldis ruled Flair not medically cleared, and Bliss took her place alongside Paxley. In the match against champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, PWTorch wrote that the referee caught Henley and Reid trying to use the ropes against Paxley, and that Bliss hit a Sister Abigail on Reid at ringside. Paxley then pinned Henley with the Cemetery Drive to win the titles.
The main event, United States Champion Trick Williams against Bron Breakker, did not get a clean ending. WWE.com wrote that the match "was cut short thanks to a shocking assault from The Vision" and did not name a winner. PWTorch and Wrestleview both described the ending as a disqualification, and PWTorch said Austin Theory attacked Williams during the match. Because WWE.com has not named a result, the official ruling is not confirmed here.
After the bell, PWTorch reported that Je'Von Evans and Penta each came to Williams's aid and were each attacked by The Vision. Bronson Reed hit a Tsunami before the show went off the air.
The show opened with CM Punk, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn each standing on a ladder in the ring. PWTorch reported that Punk spoke first about chasing a third Money in the Bank win, Owens then climbed his own ladder and warned that he would cash in on Zayn, and Zayn, the Undisputed WWE Champion, answered both of them last. WWE.com said Zayn did not hold back in his verbal takedown of Punk and Owens.
Also on the show, Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton and Women's United States Champion Jacy Jayne defeated Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca and Lola Vice in a six-woman tag team match. Legend pinned Ruca with the Lash Extension, then laid out both Stratton and Jayne after the bell, according to WWE.com.
In a non-title tag team match, WWE Tag Team Champions The MFTs, Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, beat The War Raiders, Erik and Ivar. WWE.com said the MFTs won with My Brother's Keeper after Haku attacked Erik. Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki then brawled with the MFTs.
Gunther and Danhausen never had a match. WWE.com wrote that Finn Bálor repelled a Gunther attack on Danhausen but suffered for it. PWTorch reported that Gunther hit a big boot, powerbombs and chops on Danhausen, and that after Bálor made the save with a Slingblade, Gunther powerbombed Bálor onto the announce table and left through the crowd.
Elsewhere, WWE.com said Cody Rhodes told Aldis he would do whatever it takes to get his hands on Randy Orton.
Money in the Bank is set for Saturday, October 10. WWE.com confirmed that Roman Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight in the opening match of the show.
