Dominik Mysterio pulled the mask off his father, Rey Mysterio, and then pinned AAA Mega Champion El Grande Americano on the October 3 episode of Lucha Libre AAA on FOX. The win earns Dominik a title rematch at Héroes Inmortales on October 24, Fightful reported. Dominik has not won the championship. Americano remains champion.

The match paired Dominik with Omos against Americano and Rey Mysterio. Ringside News wrote that the tag match followed an opening segment in which Dorian Roldán interrupted Americano's address alongside Dominik and Omos, and that Americano then proposed the match.

Fightful reported the stakes were set before the bell. If Dominik's team won, he would receive a rematch for the Mega Championship at Héroes Inmortales. A loss would have barred him from challenging for the title for the rest of Americano's reign.

Ringside News described the finish this way: "Dom ripped Rey's mask off. While the referee helped Rey, Dom blasted Americano with the AAA Mega Championship and pinned him for the win." The outlet added that after the match Dominik attacked Americano and Rey, then held up the championship and Rey's mask "like trophies."

Héroes Inmortales takes place October 24 at Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City. Fightful listed the title match as Americano defending against Dominik, with Roldán and Omos in Dominik's corner.

Rey Mysterio has not announced a response, and it is not yet known what role he will have at the event.

As of October 4, Americano is still the AAA Mega Champion, and Dominik Mysterio has a rematch booked for October 24 in Mexico City.
