Michael Cole says he would like to reach age 65 before he considers retiring, according to SEScoops coverage of an interview he gave to OutKick. WFMD reported that the interview was published around October 9.

Per the SEScoops coverage, Cole said he signed a multi-year WWE contract about a year ago. He spoke with OutKick's Bobby Burack for OutKick Dropkick.

Cole has worked for WWE for 30 years, a figure he gave himself in the interview. Much of the conversation, as WFMD reported, centered on his decision to stay out of politics on WWE broadcasts. "Again, when I started in the company 30 years ago, there was a total non-political stance," Cole said.

He also said he stays off social media. "I don't go on social media, I just don't," Cole said, adding that he avoids Facebook, Instagram and Twitter so that nothing he writes is misinterpreted. He described his role as playing a part in "a weekly episodic television show that is scripted entertainment," and said, "No one cares what Michael Cole has to say about anything political. They don't."

Cole also said he was celebrating his 31st wedding anniversary, and that his wife has never watched wrestling apart from his WrestleMania match. WFMD noted he was scheduled to work Friday Night SmackDown and Money in the Bank in New Orleans around the time of the interview.

Details beyond the age target are limited. No retirement date has been announced by Cole or WWE, and it is not yet known whether he would sign another extension before reaching 65.

As of Sunday, Cole's stated goal is to reach 65, and he is working under the multi-year agreement he signed about a year ago.
