Michael P.S. Hayes says Triple H has asked him to prepare Bobby Roode to eventually take over the producer role Hayes holds in WWE. Hayes made the comments on the "What's Your Story?" podcast on October 28, according to Wrestling Inc.

Hayes said Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, put the assignment to him directly. "You're our Pat Patterson, I need you to make Bobby Roode [our] Michael," Hayes quoted Triple H as saying. The line casts Hayes in the long-term producer role once held by Pat Patterson and sets Roode up as the next person in it.

Hayes was positive about how the work has gone. "Boy, has [Roode] come along," he said. "Bobby's really, really good."

Hayes has held a backstage producer and writer position in WWE since 1999, per Wrestling Inc. Roode is already working in a similar area of the company. He moved into a match producer role in August 2023 after ending his in-ring career following neck fusion surgery in September 2022. Before that, Roode wrestled in TNA starting in 2004 and later in WWE.

Hayes also spoke on the podcast about wrestlers accepting circumstances in the business that are outside their control, Wrestling Inc reported.

Several details have not been reported. No timeline for a handover was given, and it is not known what title or responsibilities Roode would hold when the change happens. WWE has not announced any change to Hayes's role, and the claim rests on Hayes's own account of his conversation with Triple H.

For now, Hayes is still in his producer position, and by his own telling Roode is being trained to follow him.
