Sheamus said he is on "a long vacation" when asked about his future at a watch party in Chicago on Saturday, October 31, according to Fightful and Wrestling Headlines. The former WWE World Champion has been a free agent since his WWE contract expired on October 1.

The comments came at Bundesliga Haus in Chicago during a watch party for Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich. Sheamus, who now goes by Stephen Farrelly, was called an "ex-luchador" and responded, per Fightful:

"Did you say ex-luchador? I'm just taking time off. I'm just chilling, I'm just relaxing. I'm on vacation. A long vacation."

Fightful Select reported in July that Sheamus remained under WWE contract but was set to become a free agent on October 1. He spent 20 years with WWE, from 2006 to 2026, according to Fightful.

The vacation line follows reporting on TNA's Bound for Glory 2026. Wrestling Inc reported that Sheamus was considered for Moose's open challenge at the event, and that False Finish first named him as the top name for the match. Max Caster took the spot instead. PWInsider Elite reported that Sheamus working the show was never locked in, and that he is taking time off after leaving WWE and is not rushing back. Fightful Select said TNA did reach out, but that Sheamus had not committed to the booking.

Fightful Select has also reported that unnamed veteran names within AEW are pushing for a signing, with no substantial talks so far. No company has announced a deal with Sheamus, and the comments in Chicago gave no timeline for when his break will end.

As of Sunday, Sheamus is a free agent, says he is on vacation, and has no announced next destination.
