AEW is interested in signing Sheamus now that his WWE contract has expired, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select. Sheamus became a free agent on Thursday, October 1.

WrestleVotes reported apparent interest within AEW in potentially signing him, and said some talents in the AEW locker room support the idea. Ringside News wrote that there is no deal in place and no indication that formal negotiations have taken place. Sheamus has not publicly commented on his next move. The report indicated AEW is expected to pursue him if he decides to keep wrestling outside WWE.

WrestleView reported that WWE offered Sheamus a restructured contract with reduced pay on July 5. He swiftly rejected it and chose free agency, and the following day he appeared in the alumni section of WWE's website. Ringside News noted that reports suggested he believed he could earn comparable money elsewhere. 411Mania added that The New Level also left WWE this year rather than accept contracts with significant pay reductions.

Sheamus spent nearly 19 years with WWE. WrestleView listed three WWE Championship reigns and one World Heavyweight Championship reign, along with the 2010 King of the Ring, the 2012 Royal Rumble and the 2015 Money in the Bank.

His last match came on Raw on November 17, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio against members of Judgment Day. He underwent shoulder surgery in December 2025.

Whether Sheamus continues wrestling, and where, is not yet known. The reports describe AEW's interest only, with no offer or agreement.

As of Friday, Sheamus is a free agent, AEW's interest has been reported, and no deal has been announced.
