Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has given up on Big Cass as a singles wrestler, pointing to Cass's loss to Dragon Lee on Monday's Raw. Ringside News relayed the comments. They are Meltzer's read of the booking, not a confirmed WWE decision.
According to PWTorch's Raw results, Dragon Lee beat Cass in about 12 minutes. Cass went for a chokeslam, and Lee countered into a roll-up for the three-count. PWTorch reported that Cass was visibly frustrated afterward. Fightful placed the match in the second hour of the show.
Meltzer praised the match itself, calling it Cass's best since returning, per Ringside News. The finish is what drew his attention. "They would never let Cass, if they had plans for him, lose to Dragon Lee," Meltzer said. "That is not in their MO at all."
He then raised the idea of a reunion with Enzo Amore. "I think Cass may need Enzo because they've given up on him as a single, which is a lot quicker than I thought they would," Meltzer said.
Cass, whose real name is William Morrissey, returned to WWE in August 2026. He has since appeared on WWE Main Event, where he beat Brooks Jensen on September 10.
WWE has not announced any change to Cass's status, and there is no confirmation that he will be paired with Amore. Meltzer's mention of Amore was a suggestion about what Cass may need, not a report of a plan.
For now, Cass's most recent result is a Raw loss to Dragon Lee, and the view that WWE has moved on from his singles run comes from Meltzer, not from the company.
