WWE's plan to keep Big Cass separate from Enzo Amore may be reconsidered after Cass lost cleanly to Dragon Lee on Raw, according to Dave Meltzer. Meltzer made the comments on Wrestling Observer Radio, as reported by Wrestling Inc and eWrestling.
Cass returned to WWE alone in early August 2026, his first WWE appearance since his 2018 release. Before that, he worked for TNA and then AEW. Meltzer said WWE had intended to keep Cass and Amore apart, with the reasoning that a reunion would limit Cass's potential as a tag team performer under WWE's current approach to tag teams, according to eWrestling.
Meltzer also said Amore signing with WWE under the NXT banner was at one point "considered virtually a done deal," eWrestling reported. Wrestling Inc reported that Amore had visited WWE's Performance Center earlier in 2026, and that talks about him joining Cass faded afterward.
Cass lost to Dragon Lee on the September 28 episode of Raw. Lee countered a chokeslam attempt into a quick rollup, eWrestling reported, and no one interfered. Wrestling Inc reported that Cass had wrestled five matches since August, mostly in midcard programming.
Meltzer called the match "by far the best thing that Cass has done since he got there, as far as the match goes." He still read the finish as a signal about WWE's plans. "I think Cass may need Enzo, 'cause they've given up on him as a single, which is a lot quicker than I thought they would," Meltzer said, according to Wrestling Inc.
Cass was involved on the October 5 episode of Raw, when eWrestling reported that he interfered in a match between Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee, helping The Judgment Day before attacking both men afterward.
Whether Amore will return to WWE has not been announced, and no reunion with Cass has been confirmed. For now, Cass is a singles competitor with a clean loss on his record and a report that WWE may change course.
