Ric Flair was taken to a hospital in Tampa on Friday, October 23, after a fall outside a Wagamama restaurant, TMZ reported. The 77-year-old cut his head and his eye in the fall, and TMZ said he bled extensively. A possible concussion was a concern, according to the report, which has not been confirmed as a diagnosis.
Flair was reported to have left the bar area when he fell. Emergency responders took him to the hospital by ambulance, according to coverage of the TMZ report by Yahoo Sports and Geo.tv.
His daughter Charlotte Flair addressed the situation on X on Friday night. She wrote: "Not my dad telling the doctor he fell bc of warrior dropping him on his head... (ps: he's going to be ok)". The line is a joking reference to the Ultimate Warrior, and it is the only family statement on his condition in the coverage so far.
The fall came hours after Flair posted a health update of his own. In that post, he apologized for canceling his appearance at Washington State Horror Con in Seattle. "Unfortunately I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg, and my doctors have limited my travel to 3-4 hours," he wrote. Flair said he will undergo a procedure to remove the affected vein, and described the condition as serious.
No outlet has said that the blood clot caused the fall. The two are linked in the reporting only by timing.
Details on his current condition beyond Charlotte Flair's post have not been released. The results of any hospital evaluation, including whether a concussion was diagnosed, are not yet known, and the date of his leg procedure has not been announced. As of Friday night, his daughter said Flair is going to be okay.
